WHO ARE WE
Lacuna, pronounced la·cu·na /ləˈk(y)o͞onə/ is a noun meaning "unfilled space or interval; a gap". Via Lacuna started from a deep desire to help children and fill an empty space, where no one has yet to occupy. It is more than just a brand, it is an ethics - a belief system which reveals the heart and soul of creativity, care, endless adventure, learning and love of children.
Via Lacuna focuses on the whole child, not just one aspect. Our products are specifically selected to stand the test of time and produced with sustainability, small business support, and eco-consciousness in mind.
Via Lacuna encourages play, experiential learning and adventure to create memories. When one buys from Via Lacuna, it is not just items- it is the heart and soul of adventure. We hope you love our selection of products as much as we do! Check out our new arrivals tab to stay updated with new line launches.
Hey friends! My name is Kara Downing, owner and founder of Via Lacuna. I've always found myself incorporating childhood education and development into my “day job”. Starting from my obsession with reading and writing children’s books from a young age, my life stories have always been draped with child advocacies.
From volunteering to serving as a board member for an organization that helps children thrive, I knew that it was time to open a children’s store - one that does not just make children happy with exciting toys and beautiful clothes, but also one that builds a community. My life choices have gravitated towards children and early learning, so much so, that this brand seems like it has been in the making for the past 8 years. Beginning with Pins on Pinterest and endless amounts of sticky notes, I’m now stepping into the light that has always been guiding me, to embody my dreams and starting the journey with Via Lacuna.
